Welcome to Globe
A browser-based map builder built on open-source tools. Runs on OpenLayers and works with GeoServer, PostgreSQL and OGC service.
It includes common GIS tools such as vector styling, layer filtering, and attribute tables, which let you build and share a map. Because the app never uploads your actual data to the server, you stay in full control of your data.
What it does
A short version of how Globe is meant to be used right now.
Build the map in the browser
You add layers from your own GIS server, define each layer's extent, visibility, and transparency, and more. For vector layers, you can style them, filter them, configure identify popups, set labels, and view their attributes.
Your data stays yours
Globe does not upload your actual layer files to the server. You keep the data where you already keep it because the app is for building and sharing the map.
You use open servers
Globe is built around PostgreSQL and GeoServer, with OpenLayers in the browser. OGC services (WMS, WMTS, WFS) are supported.
Share when you are ready
Accounts and sharing let you give other people a map to open.
Who this is for
People who need to put a shareable map together in a browser, keep control of their own data, and work with open GIS tools they already know—or want to learn.
That includes a small team sharing one map, or someone who would rather not rebuild the same GIS UI for every project. Globe is still in an early phase, so a list of industries where Globe could be useful will be included here as we progress.
