Terms of Use
Hosted Globe service
This is the contract for using hosted Globe
Globe helps you build and share maps in the browser while your GIS data generally stays on servers you control. You get a limited right to use our hosted app. You don’t get ownership of our software or permission to copy it for a competing product. Beta access is as-is. Texas law applies. This box is a friendly summary only—the numbered Terms below control.
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the hosted Globe web application and related marketing sites at globegeospatial.com (and successor domains) (the “Service”). By creating an account, checking an acceptance box, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who’s who
“You” means the individual using the Service, and if you use the Service on behalf of an organization, that organization as well. You represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
“Globe,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Globe Geospatial LLC, 5900 Balcones Dr, Suite 100, Austin, TX.
2. The Service (hosted SaaS only)
Globe is a browser-based map builder that helps you configure maps, styles, and related tools while connecting to GIS data you control (for example GeoServer, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and OGC services).
These Terms cover the hosted SaaS offering only. Self-hosted or on-premises deployments, if offered later, will be under separate terms or a license agreement.
We may change, suspend, or discontinue features during beta or thereafter, with reasonable notice when practical.
3. Accounts and organizations
a. Registration
You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
b. Individuals
An account is for the named person unless we agree otherwise in writing.
c. Organizations and seats
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, or if we provide organization accounts with seats:
- You represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
- Seat assignments and invitees must be people authorized by that organization.
- The organization is responsible for its users’ compliance and for managing seats.
- Credential sharing to bypass seat limits is prohibited.
d. Security of your account
You are responsible for safeguarding login credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at info@globegeospatial.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Registration may be invitation-only or otherwise limited. An invitation does not guarantee continued access or any particular feature set.
4. Beta / pre-release
The Service may be offered as a beta, early access, or pre-release product. During beta (and until we publish different commercial terms):
- The Service is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE.”
- We do not promise uptime, support SLAs, feature completeness, or data durability beyond reasonable commercial efforts.
- Features may change, break, or be removed without liability.
- We may end or reset beta access.
Do not rely on beta alone for mission-critical or regulated workflows without your own backups and risk assessment.
5. License and our intellectual property
a. Your license to use Globe
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the hosted Service for your internal business or personal map-building purposes.
b. What we own
Globe retains all rights in the Service, software, documentation, branding, and related materials. Except for the limited right above, no license is granted.
c. What you may not do
You may not (and may not allow others to):
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the Service or its client-side code/assets;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code except to the limited extent applicable law forbids this restriction;
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract Globe’s JavaScript, styles, symbols, SLD/export tooling, or other proprietary client assets to build a competing product or redistribute those assets;
- Remove proprietary notices;
- Circumvent access controls, seat limits, invite gates, or rate limits;
- Use automated means to abuse the Service (except ordinary browser use and APIs we expressly provide).
Minification or obfuscation of production JavaScript does not change ownership or these restrictions.
d. Feedback
Feedback you send us may be used by Globe without obligation to you.
6. Your content and your GIS data
a. Map configuration and account content
You retain rights you have in map names, saved map settings, styles you create in the app, and similar configuration stored in the Service (“Customer Content”), subject to our right to host and process it to provide the Service.
b. Spatial / layer data
Globe is designed so that your actual geospatial datasets generally remain on systems you control. The Service typically stores references, display settings, and similar configuration—not a full copy of your layers— unless a specific feature you enable clearly uploads or stores data with us. You are responsible for lawful access to those external systems and for permissions you grant other users.
c. License you grant us
You grant Globe a limited license to host, process, and display Customer Content solely to operate and improve the Service.
You represent that you have the rights needed for Customer Content and for any credentials or URLs you configure.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate law or third-party rights;
- Distribute malware or attempt unauthorized access;
- Harass, abuse, or harm others;
- Send spam or unlawful communications through features we provide;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or other users;
- Misrepresent affiliation with Globe.
We may investigate and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
8. Third-party services
The Service may interoperate with third-party systems (GIS servers, email delivery, hosting providers, fonts/CDNs, etc.). Those services have their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages, policies, or data handling outside our control.
9. Fees (when applicable)
Beta access may be free or promotional. Paid plans, invoices, seats, and taxes will be described at purchase or in an order form when monetization begins. Until then, these Terms do not create an obligation for us to provide paid features or for you to pay fees.
10. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL RELATED MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GLOBE GEOSPATIAL LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
12. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Globe Geospatial LLC against claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Customer Content, your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights—except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms, security risk, non-payment (when fees apply), extended inactivity, or end of beta. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions that by nature should survive (including IP, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and governing law) survive termination.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will post an updated effective date and, when reasonable, provide notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, except where law requires a different process. In-app acceptance (checkbox at registration or first login) may be required for continued use.
15. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Exclusive venue for disputes lies in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there—unless applicable law requires otherwise for consumers.
16. Miscellaneous
These Terms are the entire agreement regarding the Service (plus any order form or privacy notices we reference). If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. No waiver is effective unless in writing.
